Juniper Sales

Juniper Sales is a mobile sales solution for field sales reps which allows users to view and manage products, customers,
order histories, inventories, and selling from anywhere. It also provides sales representatives with the tools to browse
products, track inventory levels, and place orders instantly.

PROJECT SCOPE

Design a new app “Juniper Sales'“ for mobile and tablet. I created mood boards, site maps, wireframes and the foundations to the design system.
We were on a very tight deadline, with initial wireframes and mockups being done in two months as they had to be presented to Black Stone.
I was able to complete the designs for the entire mobile app and then worked on the tablet designs. My goal was to create intuitive user-centered
experience while simultaneously preserving the effectiveness of the old system.

Problem

IMC's sales application, Repzio, was ten years old and suffering from a developer-centric design that resulted in a user experience
that was neither intuitive nor efficient, despite the app's effectiveness for certain tasks. Users had many pain-points and found the
Repzio experience to be incredibly confusing at times.

SOLUTION

Design and launch Juniper Sales, a modern B2B Sales App to replace Repzio.

The goal was to design and develop Juniper Sales using a proven UX framework with current design best practices.

Key objectives included:

  • Solving real user-pain points, wants, and needs.

  • Creating powerful new features that significantly improve productivity and effectiveness

  • Delivering an exceptional, intuitive user experience

  • Retaining and enhancing the core functions that already made Repzio effective

I lead and was the sole designer for this project.

Learn

Stakeholder interviews
I began by conducting stakeholder interviews with the founder and developer of Repzio. These conversations were highly insightful.
The founder shared the original inspiration behind creating the app and the vision that drove him to grow the company over many years.
The interviews gave me a clear understanding of the core problem Repzio was built to solve: the inefficient sales processes faced by field
sales representatives. He also provided a detailed walkthrough of the app, demonstrating its key functions as well as several of its more
advanced and lesser-known features.

User Interviews
I conducted user interviews with field sales representatives, the founder, and customer service reps.
These interviews provided valuable insights into the different user personas, along with their key pain points, wants, and needs.

UX Audit
I performed a comprehensive UX audit of Repzio, thoroughly documenting its user flows, interaction patterns, and hidden functions.
This audit enabled me to identify duplicative and inefficient steps, uncover opportunities for improvement, and gain a much
deeper understanding of the entire application.

Competitive Analysis: In-category and out-of-category
For the in-category competitive analysis, I carried out a detailed review of Faire, JOOR, and Tundra, documenting their respective strengths and weaknesses.
For the out-of-category analysis, I evaluated Instacart, Home Depot, and Etsy. I mapped key user flows and individual experiences, including Home, Navigation,
Search, Product Results, PDP, Favorites, Cart, and Checkout. This analysis helped me identify common patterns, effective flows, and valuable best practices.

Define

Personas
Using insights gathered from user interviews, I developed a deep understanding of the user personas, including their pain points, wants, and needs.

Features & Information Architecture
I documented all features, created a site map and developed the information architecture.

I designed the entire application, which included the following features:

  • Welcome Screen

  • Login Experience

  • User Onboarding

  • Browse Products

  • Products Results

  • Product Tiles

  • Product Details Page

  • User Profiles

  • Customer Screen

Usability TEsting

I conducted usability testing sessions alongside my team (as shown in the attached image). We traveled to one of the quarterly markets and ran sessions directly with field sales representatives. The participants ranged from highly experienced reps — some with over 20 years in the field and nearly a decade using Repzio — to newer reps with limited familiarity with the app. This mix provided valuable perspectives from both power users and beginners. We followed a structured research plan, guiding the sales reps through several realistic scenarios. We also allocated time for them to freely explore the app. To support the sessions, I created a fully interactive, high-fidelity prototype of Juniper Sales that ran on iPads, which the reps used during testing.
